Audience and Agenda: The targeted audience for this pictoral advertisement are potential students or acadame interested in LTU’s College of Education.

Usefulness: The presence of the NCATE stamp as the greeting sign for the LTU’s College of Education reinforces the argument that accreditation is a social and political influence used to assure potential students and critics that the educational program is of worth. The stamp of accreditation, in particular NCATE’s accreditation, gives schools  an image of concrete standards and quality. The reason that the lack of data as to the actual acheivement of said quality is not raising eyebrows is because the actual difference accreditation makes on a school is on the back burner. The driving motivator for accreditation is image.
